Four years ago, Kenya’s finest female boxer,one Conjestina Achieng was diagnosed with a mental condition that changed her life there after.
Despite massive calls from the media to the government and well wishers to see into her situation, nothing much was done. Like the late Abura, Conje was abandoned to deal with her worsening condition- a situation that sent her father into his graveyard.
Things however slightly changed on the 21st October 2016, when the former champion was celebrating her 39th birthday and photos of her-then mental and physical condition leaked out to the social media platforms.
It is then that Kenyans (as usual) made empty noise that provoked the ‘Kisumu Maendeleo Ya Wanawake’ to step in.
The organisation led by Atieno Otieno, took Conjestina into Kisumu Sub County’s hospital where she has been undergoing treatment for the last one month.
Conje was discharged from hospital on November 29th 2016 where she received heroic reception.
From the photos, she looks different and better.
Atieno Otieno also told the press that the organisation has taken the responsibility of seeing her through together with her son.
