Kenyans have taken to social media to air their concerns over the miserable state of former celebrated rugby player Daniel Adongo.
Daniel Adongo, the first Kenyan to play in America’s National Football League (NFL), is now living a miserable life in the United States years after being accused of domestic violence.
On Thursday, a video of Adongo looking tattered and out of mind went viral on social media. The video was first shared by blogger Robert Alai sparking a debate on the sad state that successful sportspeople go through when depression hits hard.
“Remember your rugby hunk Daniel Adongo? He got into drugs and some weird beliefs. This is him currently. Homeless and broke. Sad!!” wrote Alai
Reports indicate that Adongo, who had signed a lucrative deal with the Indianapolis Colts in 2013, is in a cult, into drugs and now homeless.
Things allegedly went south for the rugby player back in 2015 after he was accused of domestic violence.
On October 24 2015, a woman told police that she was afraid of Adongo and did not want him to return to his residence but “was not forthcoming with any information in reference to these incidents,” according to the police report, then. She indicated that arguments had occurred over the past several months in 2015.
Adongo went to the Fishers Police Department while officers were speaking with the woman and said he would not stay at the home that evening and was going to end the relationship, according to the police report.
Adongo moved to South Africa in 2007 to join the Sharks’ rugby academy and played professional rugby union in South Africa and New Zealand between 2011 and 2013. He then converted to American football, joining the Indianapolis Colts as an outside linebacker until 2015 but his career there was short lived following the criminal investigations.
