Kenya Film Classification Board C.E.O has banned the much hyped ‘takataka’ hit song by Alvindo.
The moral cop restricted the song, produced by Fast Cash Music Kenya is on grounds that it promotes gender violence and equates women to trash. The song was released on 3rd January 2019 after the hype of a short verse by the artist which went viral.
The song ignited a lot of online conversation during its release driving its views to one million just days after it was uploaded on Youtube.
KFCB maintains that ‘Takataka’ was not submitted to KFCB for examination and classification and contravenes Section 12 (2) of the Films and Stage Plays Act CAP 222.
Because of the ban, the Broadcasting, exhibition, distribution (including online) or possession of this song is now a criminal offense.
On Tuesday, the Film body called for a media briefing to highlight a number of songs that have been banned due to obscenity.
