Singer Jose Chameleone risks arrest by Ugandan authorities after a video of his under age sons driving his Chrysler on a highway went viral.
The singer had shared the video on his Instagram account quoting how he was proud of his sons driving.
The video caused an outrage among his fans who said that he was risking his kids’ lives.
Fans bashed the singer eventually drawing the attention of Ugandan police to the video
Unaccompanied, his two sons Abba Marcus Mayanja,13, and Alfa Joseph Mayanja,9, were filmed driving the convertible registration number UBB 073Y along the Entebbe express highway.
Speaking to journalists at his office in Kampala the Traffic Police Commander, Norman Musinga said the singer had broken the law and risked arrest.
”This is against the traffic rules, and if no clear explanation is given, the penalty of this offense is a fine of UGSh 200,000 to UGSh 600,000 depending on how big the crime is, or the guardian might get a jail time of three months,” said Musinga.
In a twist of events however, Chameleone said he had no knowledge of the events of that day despite the video being uploaded in his own account.
“I am not my children. Correct me where I go wrong, I am a young father. I cannot be blamed for my children’s mistakes because I wasn’t with them when it happened.
I wonder it is always me to blame, why don’t you blame their mother for instance. Stop judging me, I am not perfect and neither are you,” said Chameleone.
The singer could not record a statement with Ugandan officials because he is currently in the United States visiting his wife and new born daughter.
