Has your kindness ever put you in trouble? That’s exactly what happened to Tanzanian Hip hop Star Billnass after he granted lift to one of his fans and later ended up being arrested.
The ‘Tatizo’ rapper narrated during a podcast interview the scenario that led to him being locked up. He had requested a young man to be his photographer and later agreed to drop the him off in his car.
Not long after Billnass drove off, the guy called claiming to have forgotten something in his car.
“Alivyoshuka nilimpa nauli na a certain amount you understand, lakini alivyoshuka yule mtoto mimi nikaendelea kwenye vitu vingine akanipigia simu ‘Brother kuna kitu changu nimesahau kwenye gari hivi na hivi.. nikamfuata yeye alipo nikamkabidhi gari na funguo kwa sababu yeye anakifahamu akitafute, akatafuta but ni kama kitu cha kupanga nini unajua hiyo ikaenda hivyo nikapelekwa polisi “Said Billnass.
He was later accused of phone theft something that angered him to the bone. There was an artist he respected so much who was part of the scheme to torment him.
Out of anger he paid thrice knowing well that God was on his side and would reward him in tenfolds.
“Nilikasirika nikasema basi nalipa mara tatu ya hii kwa sababu kama ni haki yangu Mwenyezi Mungu atanilipia na off course kutoka pale vitu vingi vilienda poa lakini niliumia kwa sababu yule dogo aliplay pale simu yake inahusiana na msanii mwingine walipokuwa wanazungumza kuhusu mimi nani mtu ambaye nilikuwa namheshimu, ” added Billnass.

What pained the ‘Chafu Pozi’ rapper most was the unwillingness of the police to investigate the issue rather than pushing him to pay for the fabricated loss.
He wonders what will befall another victim who’ll be unable to foot the cost like he did.Billnass’s woes reminds us of an oldies song by Les Wanyika ‘Jirani’ whose theme revolves around a female neighbour who was offered a lift only to report to the man’s wife that she was being seduced.
