Betting Firm OdiBets has boosted rapper Khaligraph Jones with a whooping Sh. 4.5 Million ahead of his rap showdown dubbed ‘OdiNare Rap Challenge.

The boost comes just a few hours after Khaligraph put up Sh. 500,000 from his own pockets to promote rappers after Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua called them poor.

Even before he rolled out the challenge, lady luck came through OdiBets, one of the leading betting companies in the country which boosted him with Sh. 4.5 Million.

“Attention, Attention, A big Win for KE Hip Hop. Following my initiative of elevating our music Industry, am pleased to announce that @odibetskenya have joined this noble cause and have topped up my initial contribution of Ksh 500, 000 by adding a whooping Ksh. 4,500,000 to that end. Further details of how you can get part of the competition will be announced tomorrow (now today).. God Is Good #respecttheogs#odinare#heshimukipaji Cc@jaymoulemsee,”posted Khaligraph with a photo showing him holding the dummy cheque together with the firm’s representatives.

OdiBets has described the support to Khaligraph as a way of nurturing untapped talent.

“We decided to support Khaligraph and the whole Kenyan music industry as a way of giving back to society and nurturing untapped talent that is out there,” said Dedan Mungai as he handed the Sh. 4.5 million cheque to Khaligraph Jones.

Past Major Rap Battle

Indeed, this is a big win for Kenyan hip hop keeping in mind that the last major rap battle with a corporate sponsorship took place in 2012 and was dubbed ‘Nokia Don’t Break The Beat’.

It was an East African Challenge with rappers drawn from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The judges were Producer Eric Musyoka, Artist turned radio Host Nazizi, Frasha and Tanzania’s Mwana Falsafa now a Member Of Parliament.

Kenya’s Shahidi X Carlibur won the contest taking home Sh. 250,000 as the prize money.

With the stage now set for Khaligraph’s OdiNare Challenge, there’s a looming total showdown of wordplay, metaphors and punch lines with some good amount of cash at stake.
