
The total number of deaths in Kenya from Covid-19 has risen to 594 after five more patients succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours.
The ministry of Health also announced on Saturday that another 136 people had tested positive for the disease raising the country’s total of confirmed cases to 35,020. The new cases are from 3,707 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
“Our cumulative tests now stand at 471,384. From the cases, 124 are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 85 are males and 51 females. The youngest is an eight-month old infant, while the oldest is 75,” read the statement in part
In the same time frame, 99 patients recovered from the disease, 64 from the Home-Based Care Program, and 35 have been discharged from various hospitals bringing the total recoveries to 21,158.
The 136 new cases are distributed across the counties as follows: Nairobi 35, Mombasa 25, Kajiado 11, Turkana 9, Kisumu 9, Migori 8, Nyandarua 7, Kilifi 7, Embu 6, Uasin Gishu 4, Busia 3, Kisii 3, Baringo 2, Kakamega 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, Kiambu 1, Kitui 1, and Trans Nzoia 1.
