Kenya’s Covid-19 cases draws closer to 30,000 after 515 more test positive

Kenya’s Covid-19 cases on Saturday drew an inch closer to 30,000 after 515 more patients tested positive for the disease. The number now stands at 29,849.

Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said the new cases are from 6353 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Of the 515 new patients, 496 Kenyans while 19  are foreign nationals. The youngest is an 8 months old infant while the oldest is 96 year old.

The CAS also stated that seven more patients succumbed to the disease within the same period, taking the number of fatalities in the country to 472.

In the same time frame, 672 more patients were also discharged after recovering from the disease. The number of recoveries in the country now stands at 15,970.

Dr. Mwangangi warned that the disease has now been reported in all parts of the country saying “the choices we make as individuals will determine how quickly we win the war against the virus.”
