Gospel Singer Ruth Matete’s husband pastor John Apewajoye popularly known as pastor John has passed on.
The Nigerian pastor is said to have died at the hospital where he was rushed following a gas cylinder accident at their house on Monday.
Confirming the incident, the singer took to social media to ask her fans for prayers.
“My Husband BelovedJohn Apewajoye has gone to be with the Lord …I humbly ask for your prayers during this difficult time” she wrote
Reports indicate that Pastor Apewajoye was working on fixing their gas cylinder that was faulty but upon returning the cylinder in the house and trying to light it up the cylinder exploded.
On that fateful day, the couple had reportedly refilled their cooking gas cylinder but found it excessively pressurized.
He is said to have taken the cylinder to the balcony where he released the excess out.
In that balcony, however, there were clothes on the hanging line that he wore after normalizing the pressure. When he lit the burner in the kitchen, the clothes caught fire.
Ruth Matete and Beloved John got married in November 2019 after dating for close to three years.
