Tanzanian netizens are an angry lot after an upcoming artiste faked his death to promoter a new song.
The singer, Meja Kunta’s manager took to social media on Sunday to pen how the singer had died in an accident on his way to a performance.
The manager alleged that the singer was to stage a performance at Mziki Munene concert in Tanga before the tragedy happened.
On Monday, however the manager made a u-turn on Meja Kunta’s death stating that the singer is still alive and regrets earlier reports that had announced his death.
“Ndugu Watanzania, mashabiki wa mziki wa singeli, na mziki kwa ujumla, wazazi wa @mejakunta_ , waandishi wa wahabari, ndugu jamaa na marafiki, nasikitika au kuomba radhi kwa nilichokiandika jana usiku kupitia ukurasa wangu wa IG. Mejakunta ni mzima wa afya nipende kuwatoa hofu. naomba sababu ya post niiongelee wakati mwingine. kwa dhati kabsa naomba samahani tena. matibabu yanaendelea vizur kabsa. tunashukuru mashabiki zetu kwa salamu nyingi za pole na kuwa pamoja nasi. God is good all the time,” he said
The singer’s team reportedly wanted to bank on the trending news of Kunta’s death to promote his latest jam.
