Bongo Flava’s veteran rapper Professor Jay, real name Joseph Haule is the new member of parliament for Mikumi Constituency.
The rapper had contested the seat on a Chadema Party Ticket beating his fellow contestants in the elections that happened yesterday.
He is not the first musician to run for office in Tanzania as another veteran rapper Mr Sugu, has been the MP for Mbeya for the last five years.
Other celebrities contesting in this year’s elections include former model Wema Sepetu and Wanaume TMK’s manager Said Fella.
