SICK CONJESTINAThis particular story disturbs me so much that i can’t hold back my balancing tears as i write.The plight of former female world boxing champion Conjestina Achieng! This kid and her family have gone through enough.

The story has evolved from worse to worst as her  family has lost so much including her own father and elder brother.

Speaking during a recent media interview, Conjestina’s brother William Ochieng laments how her mental illness psychologically ‘depressed’ their father to the grave.

He recalls his father’s- Clement Adala, last words  before succumbing to heart failure last December at Kisumu’s Jalaram Hospital.

“My son, am worried about how you people are going to make it.

I have been in this world long enough, and I have suffered enough because of my daughter. I have nothing left and I cannot stand it any longer.”

Ochieng’s words were seconded by his mum’s,Getrude Adala who adds that,before his death,Conje’s father sold part of the land and a number of the family’s properties to cater for his daughter’s illness leaving the family in a wanting situation and poverty striking hard;

“He died talking to us. Before that, he had lamented about the plight of her daughter.”

“He used to look at Conje and could not believe that she was the same heroine who flew the Kenyan flag high,”adds Ochieng.

Unknown to many,the mother’s plight is becomes more difficult when some source accuse the family of using  Conje’s case to get rich while in the real sense,she goes through so much.

“I buried my husband last December. In March, I buried my eldest son. I have so many problems, but I am a mother.

I cannot be so inhuman to use my daughter’s plight to make money,”

She reveals that most of the cash contributed towards Conjestina’s case,usually end up in the wrong hands.

Conjestina was diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder/paranoid schizophrenia and admitted at Mathari Teaching and Referral Hospital in September 2012, before being released from the facility in October 2014 and relocating  to her rural home where she has been living ever since with her illness.

If Kenyans stood by Jadudi,Janet Kanini,Christian Longomba,why not stand with someone who once made the country proud?

Someone should come up with a pay-bill number,am sure Kenyans will contribute handsomely.Conje’s illness can be cured,once and for all!
