On 16th March reggae lovers across the world came together in Kingston Jamaica while those who could not attend it made sure to stream Buju Banton’s Long Walk to freedom online.
Arguably the biggest reggae concert of 2019 thus far, Buju walked in with a huge entourage and made sure the crowd got exactly what they paid for.
Hosted at Jamaica National Stadium, the concert saw some big names like Wayne Marshall, Ghost, LUST, Buju’s son Jahazeil Myrie and Cocoa Tea whose performance was greatly enhanced by an impromptu cameo from rising star, Koffee give an electric performance.
The concert was Banton’s first since being released from prison after nearly 10 years behind bars.
Clad in all white, Buju Banton entered the stage to open his set with “Lamb Of God” amid cheer from the crowd. The Gargamel then transitioned into his classic single “Not An Easy Road,” which was like an anthem for the past decade of his life.
Buju performed his biggest hits from his vast catalog of hardcore dancehall tracks and more conscious roots reggae. “Champion,” “Wanna Be Loved,” “Driver,” and “Destiny” just to name a few.
