Tanzanian Rapper Mwana F.A yesterday met with Tanzania Music and arts regulatory authority to appeal for liniency on behalf of Diamond Platnumz.
Basata issued a ban on Rayvanny and Diamond’s song ‘Mwanza’ over what they termed as explicit content.
Basata through its CEO Godfrey Muigeraza ordered the two artistes to pull down the song from Youtube before fining them Tsh.9 million (Ksh.406,000)
Mwana F.A appealed to BASATA to reduce the regulations on the song arguing that the ban is hugely affecting artistes.
“Nimeona nije kuongea na Baraza la Sanaa katika namna ambavyo naweza kuomba kama msanii, adhabu aidha ipunguzwe au iondolewe kwa kiwango kinachowezekana ili kufanya wasanii wasiumie, (I have appealed to BASATA as an artiste to have the punishments on artistes removed or reduced to a certain level so that artistes don’t suffer)” he said
He also advised Wasafi Classics management to write an apology letter to BASATA.
“Uongozi mzima wa Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) na wasanii wao wanapaswa kuandika barua ya kuomba radhi na kuomba kupunguziwa adhabu, halafu hao kama watendaji ndiyo wataamua la kufanya lakini la msingi naamini adhabu haitabaki kama ilivyotolewa siku ya jana.(The management of Wasafi Classics Baby should write an apology letter asking to BASATA to reduce the fine. BASATA will then decide what to do but I believe the punishment will not remain as is.)” he added
