Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny have suffered a major blow after their song Mwanza was banned hours after release.
The song which already has 1.4 million views on Youtube was banned on grounds that it promotes immorality.
Tanzania Music Regulatory Board BASATA has ordered all radio and TV not to play or air the song with immediate effect.
“Wimbo ‘MWANZA’ wa Wasanii @Rayvanny aliomshirikisha @DiamondPlatnumzumefungiwa na Baraza la Sanaa Tanzania ‘BASATA’ kupigwa mahali Popote kwa sababu za kuwa Unahamasisha Masuala yasiyofaa” read part of the statement
Earlier this year, Diamond’s songs Waka Waka featuring Rick Ross and Haleluiya featuring Morgan Heritage were also banned.
Diamond has also been ordered by BASATA’S Executive secretary Godfrey Muingereza to pull down the song which is already trending at number one on Youtube and also to stop promoting it.
Muigeraza also warned Diamond against performing any of his banned songs at the coming Wasafi festival and to make sure all artistes set to perform at the event are registered.
“Diamond Platnumz na @rayvanny hawatoruhusiwa kuimba wimbo wao wa #Mwanza kwenye tamasha la #WasafiFestival2018 na pia hawatoruhusiwa kuimba wimbo wowote uliofungiwa. Kwa upande mwengine wasanii wote watakao perform #WasafiFestival ni lazima wawe wamejisajiliwa BASATA” said Muingereza
