Bobi Wine Has Been Arrested Following Attacks From Ugandan Security Forces a few days ago.
The Ugandan musician and opposition lawmaker’s driver was shot dead after a clash with Ugandan forces on Monday night.
Bobi Wine was taken into police custody, along with three other MPs on Tuesady 14th.
The arrest came following an incident with police forces in the north-western town of Aura that left his driver dead.
“We arrested Bobi Wine and others this morning and he is in our custody,” said Emilian Kayima, Uganda’s police spokesman.
The musician was attending a bi-election rally in Arua on Monday, in support of an opposition politician when his driver was shot dead outside of their hotel by security forces.
The musician has allegedly been charged with treason,malicious damage of the president’s vehicle and illegal possession of fire arms.
According to Josephine Ongusiya the police spokes person, West Nile, the police recovered two SMG riffles, rounds of ammunition, a pistol and drugs in the singer’s hotel room in Arua.
Wine will be tried along with opposition politician Kassiano Wadri, who won Wednesday’s fiercely contested municipal by-election against the ruling party in the northern town of Arua.
