World renown Jamaican singer Clifton Bailey popularly known as Capleton was arrested and presented in court over sexual assault charges.
Capleton was ordered to submit his fingerprints for investigation after a complaint was filled against him for sexual assault.
The dancehall maestro appeared before St.Andrews Parish court in Kingston on Tuesday May 15 to answer to the charges.
Capleton was handed a cash bail of $250,000 (ksh. 25,100,125) as the investigation proceeds.
Through his social media, the singer denied the charges saying he has much respect for women and would not commit such atrocities.
“I vehemently deny all accusations of sexual misconduct and do not condone crime or violence against women or anyone. I am a father with daughters that understand the responsibility of a role model and would never do anything to hurt anyone or jeopardize my career.” he wrote in part.
Capleton went on to state that he was the victim in the whole saga.
“I’m the target of an extortion scheme and my lawyers and I presented evidence to authorities to fight this false accusation.
The singer’s lawyer Christopher Townsend has accused the investigating officer of failing to conduct proper investigations and has also assured fans that he will not miss his world tour slated for May 25th to June 27.
