Rumor mills are rife with news that Congolese Rhumba singer Kofi Olomide asked for ksh.23 million to perform at the Devolution Summit set for Kakamega.

Sources close to the singer and the summits organizers have however refuted the news doing rounds saying that someone was just out to spoil the singer’s image.

The figure, which the artiste is said to have quoted left tongues wagging, with local artistes furious as to why a foreigner would be paid such a huge figure.

“The amount is slightly less than Sh2million,” said an insider. “That is what he will be paid if all parties agree to every detail.” said the source

The singer’s last visit to Kenya did not go well as he was deported for kicking one of his dancers at the airport.

The action prompted fans to boycott his show and ask the government to deport him.
