Tanzania’s Communication Regulatory Authority has banned two of Bongo star Diamond Platnumz’s songs on the basis of explicit content.
The regulatory body banned Diamond Platinumz’s songs ‘Hallelujah’ featuring Morgan Heritage and ‘Waka Waka’ featuring American rapper, Rick Ross.
The songs were among 13 Tanzanian songs which were banned on Wednesday, February 28, due to their vulgar and explicit nature.
According to TCRA officials, Waka Waka, Hallelujah and the other 11 songs which have been playing on different media platforms contain illicit content which violates Tanzania’s code of conduct. In a statement released on Wednesday, February 28, TCRA urged all media stations to give the aforementioned songs complete blackout since they were leading many Youth astray.
Other songs which have been banned by TCRA include ‘Pale kati Patamu’ by Ney wa Mitego, ‘Hainaga ushemeji’ by Manifongo, ‘I am Sorry JK’ by Nikki Mbishi among others.
The latest development came barely a day after Diamond Platinumz rolled out a campaign to hire presenters for his TV and Radio stations which received a broadcasting license earlier this week.
