In an announcement made during the pre telecast at the Madison Square Garden In Newyork city, the absent Damian Marley was named winner in the Best Reggae album category.
Damian Marley won his third Grammy, for his fourth solo album stony hill which was released on the Republic Records label. His previous Grammy awards albums include Half Way Tree and Welcome to Jamrock.
However there were mixed reactions from fans all over the world who felt that the rightful winner would have been chronixx for his album chronology, for as Grammy.com asked their users who would win, 29% choose Chronixx, 28% choose Morgan Heritage and 18% went for Damian Marley.
The Marleys have won the Grammys thirteen times from 1985 with Ziggy Marley,winning seven times while his brother Stephen Marley winning twice and Damian Marley winning three times.
Shaggy and sting performed their recently released single live at the red carpet concert.
